Kevin Quirk, A Writer’s Eye

www.awriterseye.com

Kevin Quirk has been a book collaborator, editor, and advisor since his own first book, Not Now, Honey, I’m Watching the Game was published by Simon & Schuster in 1997. That groundbreaking book, which explored how “sportsaholism” can undermine men’s relationships and their spiritual lives, was featured by ABC’s 20/20, CBS This Morning, CNBC, National Public Radio, ESPN, RedbookThe Washington Post, The Dallas Morning News, and more than 100 other media and Internet forums throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Kevin is the co-author of Brace for Impact: The Search for Meaning in Near Death and Hope in New Life -- Voices from Flight 1549, scheduled for release in January 2010 by HCI Books. This inspirational book chronicles the life experiences of 25 passengers and first responders from the Hudson River miracle plane crash in January '09.

Kevin specializes in books designed to make a difference in our lives and our world. He has assisted clients in the realms of religion & spirituality, memoirs & biographies, inspirational messages, self-help, psychology, business, politics, health, the arts, and cultural affairs. Recognizing that writing and publishing a book is not just about words and ideas, he approaches every collaborative relationship with passion and a commitment to invest in the author’s hopes and dreams.

Born in Massachusetts, Kevin earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Boston University and a Masters in Writing from the University of New Hampshire. After spending 11 years as a newspaper reporter, he took a break from writing. With a Masters in Spiritual Psychology, he maintained a part-time counseling practice for eight years, guiding men and women with life transitions, career renewal, grief and loss, and relationship issues. Upon returning to writing, he discovered a stronger sense of purpose and direction in helping others write books. He now devotes his full time and energy to his role as collaborator and editor.

In honoring the sacred intention of bringing any book into the world, Kevin supports clients whether they pursue a commercial publisher or choose to self-publish. He often advises authors on the best route to pursue, based on experience with his own books and with many clients in both publishing domains. His own latest self-published book is Your Sacred Adoption: A Guided Journal of Life, Love and Memories.

His first book collaboration, Caught in the Net by Kimberly Young (Wiley), received consistent praise for its focus and writing. That book was featured by Time, Newsweek, USA Today, and the Wall Street Journal, and was translated into four languages.

Recent projects include a proposed book, represented by Rachelle Gardner, that chronicles how a mother and daughter have stood up to a young girl’s demoralizing disease. Their story has been featured by Reader’s Digest.

Kevin lives near the Blue Ridge Mountains in Charlottesville, Virginia, and travels all over the country and internationally for his collaboration projects. He welcomes hearing from clients at any stage of a book project or idea.
